Patrick Swayze has passed away after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. He starred in two of my favorite movies - Ghost, a beautiful love story and Roadhouse, one of the cheesiest movies known to man and I loved EVERY cheesy moment!

DJ A.M. has passed away. Born Adam Goldstein, he formerly was engaged to Nicole Richie and miraculously escaped a plane crash last year where he and Travis Barker, formerly of Blink 182, were the only survivors.

His body was discovered by the New York Police Department at his apartment in NYC on Friday.

He was 36 years old.

Kourtney is well known because her sister screwed Brandy's little brother and got some steam outta that. Kendra is famous cause she was part of Hef's harem. And now they are on the cover of US magazine proclaiming that they are glad that they can breastfeed with implants.

US, is that really the best you can do? I really find it irritating when someone with a little fame gets pregnanat and they want to act like none of this happened before it happened to him. Kourtney's boyfriend/man/doner is always looking a little shifty when the cameras are on him so she might want to make sure he is going to be around after the birth. Kendra's married now so technically her man will be around too. Who wants to bet me that someone will put both of them on a reality show to show how they manage to juggle a career (?) and being a mom in the spotlight do as first year moms? Anyone? Anyone?

Crime story author Dominick Dunne has died from bladder cancer..

I like his show on Tru TV - Power, Privilege & Justice - and had just seen a commercial of him where in some shots, he looked healthy and others he looked very sickly. Even pointed it out to my husband. If you remember, his daughter, Dominique, who played the older daughter in 'Poltergeist' was killed by her boyfriend in 1982. RIP Mr. Dunne.

Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian...an unlikely duo. But, they were together for almost three years (that we know of) so there had to be something there. The hotness that is Reggie Bush lost some cool points when he hooked up with ol' girl since she had a rep of being with all of the brothers. Despite my initial "hoping they would not stay together" mode, they were actually starting to grow on me. And just like that, an announcement comes out of nowhere that they had broken up due to their inability to get their schedules together to be able to be together. Uhhh, OK.

Robert Pattison in Twilight...

I remember seeing the trailer for this movie and thinking to myself, "this movie looks pretty good." The Twilight movie has become a pheonomonon (I know I spelled this wrong, sorry) that does not appear to be going away soon since they are filming the second and third installments. The actors from the movie have become popular and famous from this movie. But I do have one question...Is it just me or do you also not find Robert Pattison the least bit attractive?" He's scruffy and dirty looking and got the whole drooping eyes/scowling/bedhead thing working. But he, like Orlando Bloom, DO NOTHING FOR ME. Period, point blank. Please feel free to share...

That is a great question...one that I have been trying to answer myself. There is just something about her that irks the crap outta me. The first production I remember seeing her in is Under Siege II with Steven Segal. She was irritating then and she is irritating now. She gives me a "I'm better than you" vibe, like she has had such an ascension into the annals of movie history. Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair was found dead earlier today in an apartment, along with an unidentified woman.

I don't know what to say. I am so hoping that this does not turn out to be a "married man promised to leave the wife for the girlfriend and when de didn't the girlfriend killed him" scenario. He is married with four kids.

Farrah had been in poor health the past three years due to anal cancer and passed away earlier today.

If you are not familiar with them, she is the mother from Malcolm in the Middle and he was on The West Wing. For you oldheads, he was also in Adventures in Babysitting and played Chris's boyfriend who cheated on her with the chunky girl with the bad hairdo.

I really like them together and I was sorry to see this story.

Actor David Carradine was found dead yesterday and now they are not sure what caused his death. At first, it was suicide. Now reports are surfacing that it may have been a rough sex thing. I don't know why this has thrown me for such a loop. Totally unexpected and out of the blue...maybe that's it. RIP Mr. Carradine.

Michael Vick has been released from Leavenworth and is headed to Virginia to serve out the last two months of his 23 month prison sentence in home confinement.

Rapper T.I. will report to federal prison next week to begin serving his sentence.

Waymon Tisdale has passed away...

He was a professional basketball player then became an excellent musician, had several albums and help in his community. He had cancer for the past two years. RIP, Mr. Tisdale.

After the week I had, the only thing I requested for Mother's Day was a day on the couch with my magazines and the TV and a pretty card. The hubby and the chiren took care of breakfast and dinner duties. I sent and received Mother's Day texts all day. After the week I had last week (extra work at the job, band practices, school projects, sleepovers, etc.), I was mommy run down and needed a break.

I hope everyone has a great week. For you parents out there in Dekalb County, school is out next Friday, the 22nd. Yay!!!!

Artist, football player Ernie Barnes, 70, dies

You may or may not know his work but if you watch "Good Times", you know his work.

Renowned artist Ernie Barnes, a former pro football player who switched to painting full time after his sports career ended, has died, according to published reports quoting his longtime personal assistant.

The assistant, Luz Rodriguez, told dailynews.com in Los Angeles that Barnes, 70, died Monday night at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

Barnes played for the Denver Broncos in 1964 and 1965, earning $13,500 as a starting guard. Ever since he was boy in Durham, N.C., he was interested in drawing and he was an art major at North Carolina Central.

As a Bronco, Barnes each week would sketch the defensive lineman who would be across from him in that Sunday’s game.

“The drawings would help me understand the man I would be facing, ” he said in a 1984 article that appeared in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Barnes sold the drawings to teammates and friends for as little as $30.

While on the playing field, Barnes said he was studying the human form and developing an eye for capturing the drama of sports.

He left the Broncos, played briefly in Canada, broke an ankle and retired. Several months later he attended an American Football League owners’ meeting and was named the league’s official artist, but when Al Davis became commissioner a few weeks later, Barnes was told there was no money for an official artist.

Later, New York Jets owner Sonny Werblin became Barnes’ patron for a year, and at the end of the year Werblin sponsored a New York show for Barnes. Every painting sold. Werblin told Barnes he was on his own.

Barnes moved to Los Angeles and began studying art history and painting.

” I always figured what I liked, other people would like. I painted within myself, from my own experience.”

In a 1995 interview with the AJC, he said, “The gift that athletics gave me was an enhancement of my sensory perceptions and an understanding of what the body feels like in movement.”

Barnes added. “In a way, football was an advanced art class for the study of human anatomy.”

His paintings, now worth thousands of dollars, became gallery favorites and were purchased by Hollywood stars, professional sports team owners and singers such as Marvin Gaye and Sammy Davis Jr.

“Sugar Shack,” the painting he became famous for when it was featured repeatedly on the ’70s sitcom “Good Times,” was purchased for $75,000 from the Marvin Gaye estate by comedian Eddie Murphy.

Barnes was the official artist for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, and he was commissioned to do six original paintings for Olympic posters.

Started a new job on April 6th and just now getting back into the swing of things. Some of the corporate people were in town this week so I am a little tired from being out late. But that's OK. I prefer that to the alternative...

Is it just me or does Kelly from the RHONY also make you sick?

The Real Housewifes of New York, after the Real Housewife of Orange County and before the Real Housewifes of Atlanta, has five women on there who are hilarious with their cattiness and bitchiness. But the bitch factor was raised this season when they added this chick named Kelly, who for some reason sees herself as a major celebrity. She has modeled for a minute and can have Sam, from "Top Chef" come over and fix her and her kids lettuce wraps but other than that, what is it? I have not liked her on the show this season. She shows up late for EVERYTHING, which is a pet peeve of mine and she has a holier than thou attitude. Wow, that was easy, thought it was going to take me a minute to figure out why I didn't like her. And to top it off, she called Betthany to a meeting to try and tell her off about something and Betthany gave it right back to her and Kelly fled from the scene when she did not get the reaction that she wanted. I would prefer her off of the show but she adds some drama so I am sure that she will stay.

Next up, the Real Housewives of New Jersey starting next month on Bravo and they are currently filming the next season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Deshawn Snow got the boot and has been replaced with Kandi Burris, formally of the R&B group XScape.

Actress Natasha Richardson, daughter of Vanessa Redgrave, wife of Liam Neeson and sister of Joely Fisher, has passed away. She fell on Monday while skiing in Canada and started having issues soon thereafter. Some reports were stating that she had died earlier this morning and some were stating that she was still alive but brain-dead. Our condolences to the family. This was just all out of the blue...

Kandi Burriss as the next RHOA???

Entertainment Weekly (ew.com) is reporting that the former member of 90's R&B group XSCAPE is slated to be the replacement for Deshawn Snow. I don't get this one at all. Why her? They should have gone ahead and chosen Tameka (Tiny) Cottle, another former memeber of XSCAPE. You would have had the T.I. factor and used that angle for more publicity since he is about to start a jail sentence on March 27th. The new season started filming this week, I believe.

ANother movie filled with folks I know...

I watched Beauty Shop this weekend and the parade of known folks in the movie was excellent. Queen Latifah, Kevin Bacon, Andie McDowell (Winthrop grad-yea!), Alfre Woodard, Della Reece, Golden Brooks, Laura Hayes, Little JJ, Alicia Silverstone, Bryce Wilson, Keisha Knight Pulliam, Sherri Sheppard, Sheryl Underwood, Mena Suvari, Djimon Hounsou, Adele Givens, Baby from Cash Money, a brief appearance by Regan Gomez-Preston and cameos from Lisa Raye and Kimora Lee. I like this movie, didn't make alot at the box office.

Tom and Gisele for hitched last night...

After hearing and denying rumors that they were engaged, I just heard that Tom Brady, quarterback for the New Wngland Patriots, and supermodel Gisele Bunchen got hitched last night in an intimate ceremony with a few family members and friends. The ceremony included Brady's son with Bridget Moynahan, the actress who got pregnant rught before they broke up.

To my Columbia High School graduates...

Some ignorant child showed up last week with a gun. He was expelled. Apparently he thought it was a good idea to go up to the school today. A resource office saw him, tried to get him and the kid ran away. I can hear the helicopters flying around outside now as they search for his dumb ass.. There are about 3 dozen police cars at the school and ajc.com is reporting that 4 students were just put in handcuffs and placed into a police van.

This Rihanna/Chris Brown situation...

OK, like everyone else, I have been checking out the various statements and info that have come out about the incident last week. They are both young kids who have experienced life very fast, moreso than most people. That being said, there is no excuse for a man to put his hands on a woman. And if a guy does touch a woman, she has permission to give as good as she gets.

I had two experiences in high school where a guy put his hand on me. One, the guy was at my house and wanted to turn the TV. I asked him not to since I was watching the program. He pushed me down and snatched the remote out of my hand and sat on the couch like no big deal. Needless to say, it was on after that. We got into a full fledged fight - hitting, punching, kicking and slapping. Once it was over, I put him out of my house and his boyfriend card was destoyed. The other happened on Valentine's Day - a boy that liked me had just come up and gifted me with a huge box of candy. He was a little goofy and shy but very sweet. Well, he had an adversarial relationship with one of my friends...they would make fun of each other in a brother/sister type of way. My friend came walking up, said something to him, he laughed, I laughed, and then he got mad because I had laughed. He then hauled off and kicked me as hard as he could. Mind you, this is in the middle of the hall in high school on Valentine's Day. Once I got over the initial shock and realized that he was apologizing and about to cry, I smacked him as hard as I could, told him we were through, took my box of candy and kept it moving. Now, back to the case at hand...

Chris has come out with his "I'm remorseful, I'm turning to God" statement and that's all fine and good. Everyone seems to turn to our Lord when they get caught up in some mess. Hopefully all parties involved will learn from this madness and they will both be able to move on into more productive relationships.

It is being reported the Chris Brown is being sought by the police for assault on an unidentified female and word is that female is is "girlfriend" Rihanna. Both pulled out of performing for the Grammys. More to come on this one...

Former Atlanta Falcon Jamal Anderson is cooling his heels in the pokey this weekend after sniffing some blow off of a toilet seat with some 20 year old guy in the men's room. Alright jamal, a couple of things here...
- You are not Michael Phelps. He gets caught in a drug scandal and he gets a suspension and loses a sponsor or two. You are a former NFL player who has not played since 2001. That's why you are still in jail with no bail.
- I think I read that you were trying to get into acting and I know that you were trying to get on with one of the local sports talk radio stations. Consider both of those options both shuttled to the background now/
- Don't you have a house? When I want to drink and I know that I am going to drink a few, I stay my ass at home so when I finish, I don't have to get the keys and drive. I stick the glass in the sink and hit the bed when I am ready. Why do you go to a public place to get down like that? Just dumb...

Just read that former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was released from jail yesterday after serving 99 days. And his side chick is serving her 90 days. So what does he do now? He can't be in public office, no one is going to take him seriously and he is a convicted felon. What does he do???

Taranji P. Henson and Viola Davis are both nominated for Best Supporting Actress!

Taranji was nominated for her role in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. For those of you not familiar with her work, she played Tyrese's baby mama in "Baby Boy", played one of the female assassins in "Smokin' Aces, and was in "Hair Show", "Hustle & Flow" and "Four Brothers." I also caught her on an episode of "Smart Guy" the other day and she is Jamie Foxx's love interest in the current video that he has out. I enjoy her as an actress, she has a very expressive face and you can tell she really gets into her character.

Viola is nominated for her role in "Doubt". I have always liked this lady as an actress. She has been on Law & Order a few times. She is not very well known but she is a powerful actress. I know she was in "Nights in Rodanthe" with Diane Lane and Richard Gere and it was nice to see her in a film with big name actors. I caught her the other day playing Fantasia's mom in "The Fantasia Barrino Story". She was also in "Antoine Fisher", "Get Rich Or Die Trying" and "Traffic". From looking at her profile on imdb.com, she has done alot of television shows.

Did I just read that one of the attendants in the ambulance with Jett Travolta, son of John and Kelly Preston, took a picture of Jett as he was dying in the ambulance and have contacted John and Kelly in the hopes of extorting one million dollars or he will shop the picture to the tabloids??? I like a celebrity story as well as the next guy but this right here is grounds for arresting somebody and throwing them under the jail...

Don't just look at it as a day off. On Tuesday, we have the induction ceremony for President-Elect Barack Obama which will put him in the White House as the first black President. Wow, it is still hard to believe but looking forward to checking out all of the coverage and the ceremony at 11:00 on Tuesday. Then Wednesday will be all of the wrap up media coverage. It's going to be a great week...

One of the chicks from "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" is raising hell over her multi-million dollar divorce settlement -- claiming she needs more cash to compensate for her total lack of brain power.

Sheree Whitfield -- who was married to former NFL lineman Bob Whitfield -- just filed an appeal with the Georgia Supreme Court.

According to a court spokesperson, Sheree's lawyers argued she was wrongly denied alimony -- and needs it because she lacks the education and skill set to make good money on her own.Under the original settlement agreement, Whitfield received a $775,000 lump sum, more than $1.1 million in marital property, a portion of Bob's NFL retirement plans and $2,142 a month in child support -- but no alimony.

5:25 pm - I just saw on eonline that the family was on vacation in the Bahamas and Jett, who had a history of seizures due to illness, had a seizure and died at the scene. This is so sad. RIP young man.

Update 5:40 - His condition was Kawasaki Disease and speculation is he hit his head on the bathtub and that is what started the seisure.
